Gov-Enhance Africa to attend inaugural AU Agenda 2063 Youth Summit

Gov-Enhance Africa:

Gov-Enhance Africa will attend the inaugural African Union (AU) Agenda 2063 Youth Summit at the African Union Head Quarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The summit is organized by the Youth Alliance for Development and Leadership in Africa (YALDA) together with the African Union Youth Division.

The AU Agenda 2063 Youth Summit will be held from October 29th – November 1st, 2015; and thus, will have its closing on the African Youth Day. This conference is expected to gather African Youth from around the globe and serve as a platform to get views of the youth on the kind of Africa they would like to see and their beliefs on what should be done towards reaching the common set goals.

The AU’s Agenda 2063 is a strategic framework for the socio-economic transformation of the continent over the next 50 years. It builds on, and seeks to accelerate the implementation of past and existing continental initiatives for growth and sustainable development. It is a continuation of the Pan-African Drive over centuries for unity, self-determination, freedom, progress and collective prosperity pursued under Pan-Africanism and African renaissances.

It was agreed upon by the African leaders during the 50th Anniversary of the Founding of the OAU in May 2013 and it should be understood in that context. The AU Agenda 2063 Youth Summit aims to popularize the Agenda 2063. The Agenda has been put in place to provide a road map and reference to guide development in Africa for the Commission, member states and all stakeholders. As future leaders of tomorrow, the AU Agenda 2063 Youth Summit looks to enable participants to experiment in policy-making and understand the complexity of international negotiations. Young Africans stand in solidarity with leaders and policy makers in working towards “The Africa we want”.
