This document explains how we collect, use, disclose and otherwise manage personal information.  This privacy statement applies to the privacy practices of Gov-Enhance Africa, including on our website www.govenhanceafrica.org (our “website”).

Personal Information Collection and Usage

The term “personal information” means information about an identifiable individual, including name, address, email address, and other information relating to an individual.

  1. Register for an account, seminar, workshop or event;
  2. Sign-up to receive our newsletter;
  3. Participate in an online forum;

Register:  You do not have to register in order to browse our website.  However, in order to participate in an online forum, or in one of our seminars, workshops or events, you will need to register.  When you register you may be asked to provide, among other things, your name, email address, payment card information (if applicable) and a password that you select.  We use this information to identify who you are, communicate with you, and otherwise administer your use of the website or participation in one of our workshops or events.  

Newsletter:  We may collect your name and email address in order to send you our email newsletter, including information about upcoming seminars, workshops or other events, or to add you to one of our contact lists.  You can unsubscribe from our communications by following the instructions at the bottom of each of our emails.  

Forums:  You may interact with us and other users of our website on public forums and other comment areas of our website.  Your comments, suggestions or feedback may be visible on our website along with your first name and last initial, social media display name or other user name chosen by you.  Please remember that any information that you provide in these comment areas is accessible to all users of the website, and you should exercise caution when deciding to disclose any personal information about yourself or anyone else.  We may use your comments, suggestions or feedback to monitor and/or improve our website.

Submit Materials for Publication: If you choose to submit materials for publication with us, we may collect your name, email address and contact information, organization or governmental body you represent, position within that organization or body and other similar information so that we can properly evaluate the materials you have submitted for publication. We may also contact you regarding the status of our review of your article or for additional information. Please note that submission of this information does not guarantee that your article will be published.

Social Media: We may offer you the opportunity to engage with us or our content on or through third-party social networking websites, plug-ins and applications.  When you engage with us or our content in this manner, you may allow us to have access to certain information associated with your social media account (e.g., name, username, email address, profile picture, gender) to deliver the content or as part of the operation of the website, plug-in or application. When you provide information from your social media account, we may use this information to personalize your experience with us and to provide you with other services you may request.

Inquiries: If you choose to submit an inquiry or if you otherwise contact us, we may collect your first and last name, email and contact information, educational background and credentials, organization or governmental body you represent, position within that organization or body and other similar information so that we can effectively respond to your request. We may also retain this information to assist you in the future.  

Disclosure of Personal Information & Use of Third Party Service Providers

We will not disclose, trade, rent, sell or otherwise transfer your personal information, without your consent, except as otherwise set out in this Privacy Statement.

Service Provider Arrangements:  We may transfer (or otherwise make available) your personal information to third parties who provide services on our behalf.  For example, we may use service providers to authorize and process payments, host our website and operate certain of its features. Your personal information may be maintained and processed by third party service providers in the US or other jurisdictions.  Our service providers are given the information they need to perform their designated functions, and we do not authorize them to use or disclose personal information for their own marketing or other purposes.

Sale of Business: We may transfer any information we have about you as an asset in connection with a proposed or completed merger or sale (including transfers made as part of insolvency or bankruptcy proceedings) involving all or part of Gov-Enhance Africa or as part of a corporate reorganization or other change in corporate control.

Additional Information about our Website

In general, you can visit our website without telling us who you are or submitting any personal information.  However, we or our third-party service providers, such as Google Analytics, may collect standard web log entries for each page served, including your IP (Internet protocol) address, page URL, page requests, browser type, operation system, the average time spent on our website and timestamp. We use this information to help us understand our website activity, and to monitor and improve our website.

Cookies: We use cookies on the pages on our website where you are prompted to log in or that are customizable. These cookies may let us know who you are and will provide us and our service providers with information that we use to personalize our website in accordance with your preferences. We respect your privacy.  We have implemented reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect against unauthorized access, use, modification and disclosure of personal information in our custody and control. 

Accessing & Updating Your Personal Information

You may have the right to access, update, and correct inaccuracies in your personal information in our custody and control, subject to certain exceptions prescribed by law.  You may request access, updating and corrections of inaccuracies in personal information we have in our custody or control by submitting them to us through our contact page or emailing us as set out below.  We may request certain personal information for the purposes of verifying the identity of the individual seeking access to their personal information records.
